Virtual Spaces

The perception of cityscape

One of the influential thinkers on cityscape was Gorden Cullen in the mid twentieth century. The animation on Regent Street in the present section is meant to illustrate his concepts of "screened vista" and "anticipation" which one may experience when walking in a city and finding elements of the cityscape which partly screen the view, inviting the viewers to guess and anticipate what lies beyond.

You may have an example of "séquence visuelle" in the "art urbain" website.

The "image map" function in webpages is well suited to express the relationship between parts and wholes in visual sequences.
