Virtual Spaces

FRAGMENTED SPACES

The development of vast cities gave rise to a new perception of space, made of multiple subspaces through which the viewers wandered.

When you look at the Quadrant or curve in Regent Street (early 19th century, named after the Prince Regent), you are tempted to imagine what lies in the countercurve, beyond your field of vision.

Click on the lamp-post at the end of the street to see what lies beyond, as if you had walked down there as far as Piccadilly Circus.
