The
CATI Centre offers training in methods of information retrieval
combined with degree courses at all levels:
After
obtaining a government agreement in 1995 "Training
in information skills", CATI is project manager for an interuniversity
programme accepted by the Minister as part of the "Digital
Campus 2001" scheme (this has been extended since by "Digital
Campus 2002"), which aims to promote information literacy "Réseaux.doc".
A
reference system of skills in information retrieval at all university
levels has been drawn up and was presented at the National Education
in Information Skills Conference (March 2003).
In
line with the measures concerning the new organisation of French
university diplomas (LMD), which emphasises that research units
should support training at Masters and Doctorate level, seminars
and conferences related to electronic documents include both theory
and practical work in computing workshops. CATI also contributes
during Doctoral open days organised by Doctoral schools. "Civilisations,
Cultures, Literature et Societies".
CATI
continues to put research-aid documents and additional
electronic course material online. Its Internet site presents
the centre's hypermedia publications (methods of document analysis),
together with its methodology
notes developed in collaboration with the Joint Library Services.
The
Centre's activities are supported by the numerous electronic resources
made available to its researchers, thanks to its database subscriptions
(LION, The Grove Dictionary of Art, Scottish Cultural Resources
Access Network, JSTOR, PCIFT, ProjectMuse) and user
training guide.
CATI has a collection of CD ROMs: Macbeth, National Gallery, Buildings
of England, Country Houses, Glasgow Virtual Open Doors, Alexander
'Greek' Thomson, Virtual London, Eighteenth Century, Inventors and
Inventions, Industrial Revolution, Squatters and Saints, Hutchinson
Reference Suite, Information Technology, Geography, Business Studies.
A user
training guide is also available.
