In this week's Working Week, Wayne talks to Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society in the UK, to discuss how employers are losing the war for talent.
Steve believes we are now in an environment where skilled workers are being inundated with offers as soon as they put a foot out into the job market, making the battle to keep and attract talent almost unwinnable. With employees increasingly aware of their value, managers and recruiters need to be wary of counter-offers all the way through the hiring process. And in such a febrile atmosphere, the danger is that we end up with a situation where workers are keeping an eye out for better offers from their very first day on the job.
